Traveling
by ferry is a great way to take in the beauty of the Strait
of Georgia. Car and passenger ferries run regularly between
the Lower Mainland (Vancouver) and Vancouver Island.
Visitors heading to Fairwinds from downtown
Vancouver or points north take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay
to Departure Bay in Nanaimo. Travel time is approximately 90
minutes, followed by a 30-minute drive up-island to Fairwinds.
Ferries are also available from Tsawwassen (south
of Vancouver) to Duke Point, just south of Nanaimo, followed
by a 45 minute drive to Fairwinds.
Driving
